La Défense and its underground car parks
The La Défense district carries a large share of the department's traffic, with numerous underground car parks beneath the office towers. A breakdown in one of these car parks needs a driver used to that kind of access, with its height limits and basement-level manoeuvring.
Bridges, tunnels and riverside roads
The Seine runs right through the department, at Neuilly-sur-Seine, Suresnes, Sèvres and Boulogne-Billancourt, with bridges and riverside roads that leave few safe places to stop. If you break down on a bridge, treat it like any road with no easy escape route: hazard lights, hi-vis vest, move away from the vehicle if you safely can.
Well served by the A86 and A13
The A86 crosses the department from north to south, while the A13 serves its western side towards Normandy. These roads generally have a hard shoulder, which changes what to do compared with the ring road.
